Cleaning your wicker furniture on a regular basis will keep it clean and in good shape. It can withstand certain degree of moisture stress without any serious yield or quality loss. The nice part about it is that it will resume its size and shape when it dries. Naturally, indoor wicker requires considerably less maintenance than its outdoor counterpart, but it'll still need the occasional dusting. You will need some tools to help you including: toothbrush, paint brush (cut the bristles about half way down from the end), a bristle brush (small with medium stiff bristles) and a dowel (sharpen like a pencil). If conditions are too dry, the wicker can dry out and become brittle. Wiping occasionally with a damp (not wet) sponge may help. Weekly or at least twice monthly dusting will help to keep wicker looking good and fairly dust-free. Vacuum wicker furniture regularly to draw out dust and pet hair a soft-brush vacuum attachment is perfect for this task. Use a damp sponge and a little bit of mild detergent mixed with water to remove the stain or spill. Wipe the soap off with a clean, soft, damp cloth. Periodical care is great, but once a year it's best to do a major cleaning of your wicker furniture. Dip the brush and gently scrub the wicker completely, even underneath, then rinse the same way with clean warm water. If mildew and mold to appear, remove them using a water and mild bleach cleaning solution. Dry the outdoor wicker furniture immediately, because as noted earlier, repeated contact with water can cause damage. Once the furniture is completely dry, you can apply a coat of varnish to help protect the furniture. Aside from keeping your furniture attractive, paint can also serve as protection. If the piece is painted, then it may be a good idea to strip it for refinishing work. To refinish wicker furniture, dust it carefully and apply a liquid paint stripper. Any stripper liquid can be used to soften the wicker. After the stripper has done it's work, scrub with a scrub brush. Now you can paint the piece of furniture you wanted to repaint. Wicker furniture looks great with a fresh coat of paint, and you can paint it any color you wish.
